Altima 61 Long Range Pilothouse Motoryacht ![]()
Long-standing builder Altima Yachts has now added a passagemaker to its lengthy list of production motoryachts. Altima Yachts has commissioned Bray Yacht Design to develop a 61' steel long-range motoryacht as the first in a series of ocean going cruisers. This stylish vessel is a blend of motoryacht style and trawler function incorporating the super fuel-efficient hull form and bulbous bow that this designer has become known for.
The lower deck aft has a walk in engine room and full beam master stateroom with island queen berth and large head. There is plenty of storage space with two hanging lockers, two dressers, a small settee, and a vanity. Amidship, by separate access, is a VIP stateroom with island queen berth and shared head. Forward is the third stateroom with upper and lower berths. Each spacious cabin has the abundance of storage space required for extensive time aboard.
On the transom swim step is a deep deck locker flanked by curving stairways up to the main deck where you find a large curved settee for al-fresco dining. Forward through the main cabin door is the spacious salon made possible because of the generous beam. Here there is a day head to port and an eating bar at the galley counter. To starboard is a large seating area with a circular dinette forward for dining. Large picture windows open up the view for panoramic vistas of those remote anchorages. The large U-shaped galley has plenty of storage space for cooking up gourmet meals while making long passages. Forward and up two steps is the pilothouse with a curved observers lounge. Dual helm chairs provide up front seating for the standby watch. In addition, the lounge makes into a comfortable sea berth. Wide side decks all around and a Portuguese bridge provide protection and safety when moving around on deck. The fore deck settee is a great place to take in sunsets at the new anchorage. There is an inside stairway from the pilothouse up to an expansive boat deck, with plenty of room for a large tender as well as kayaks and other toys. There is a barbeque area as well as an L-shaped dinette forward. Up two steps to the flybridge are twin helm chairs and a large observers' lounge. A hardtop for protection from the sun and rain covers this whole area.
Power is provided by a single 350 hp Cummins diesel to a top speed of 12 knots. Range at 9 knots is in excess of 5000 miles. Optional twin engines give a top speed of 15 knots. A 20 kW Onan generator provides electrical power. A hydraulic bow thruster and 400 gal/day water maker are standard equipment. The vessel structure is built of heavy steel plate for solid ocean passages and the bulbous bow makes this vessel ice-capable. Excellent seakeeping and an exceptionally long range of stability are only a few of the features that make this vessel stand apart from any others.
