The 11.5 M was designed as a performance motorsailer capable of good performance under sail and a top speed of 14 knots under power. Also there is an inside steering station and an outside steering station both with excellent visibility for all weather sailing. Shallow draft allows carefree cruising, and twin keels give the bonus ability to come away from a grounding when sailing.

There is a large walk-in lazarette off the swim platform, with shelves for storage and sufficient space for diving tanks and folding bicycles. The aft stateroom has a large double berth and plenty of hanging locker and stowage space. Directly forward to port is the w.c. with head, shower, and sink, and a quarter berth to starboard with storage under. Through the doorway you enter the main cabin which has seating for eight at the dinette. Large ports forward, port and starboard give views of the surrounding scenery. Storage is available under both the settees. Up one step and you are into the pilothouse with galley to port, helm, chart table, and wet locker to starboard. Down a step to the fore cabin are two berths each with their own hanging locker. Alternate interiors are available with increased berths to six for charter purposes and another w.c. forward. Equipment includes an electric fridge, propane stove, hot and cold running water, and an 85 h.p. diesel. A 6 kw generator is available as an option, with an all electric galley. A transparent hatch is located over the fore cabin and another over the aft cabin, with venting hatches over the w.c. and quarter berth. The cockpit is large with the seats leading back over the aft house for lounging space.

The hull is foam cored fiberglass with sufficient extra foam buoyancy to make the boat 'positive buoyant'. Watertight bulkheads are placed bow and stern to control flooding in the event of major damage. There is a spray knocker forward to turn down the bow wave at powering speeds. The twin keels have been model tested and optimized for efficiency, giving virtually no drag penalty over a long fin keel of deeper draft. All lines lead to the cockpit for ease of sail handling with the jib set on roller furling. An 8 foot dinghy can be hinged off the swim grid for easy launching and boarding. The wide side decks, shallow draft, ability to take grounding on the level, dinghy stowage, and aft swim platform are just some of the features that make the 11.5 M an excellent charter boat, corporate vessel, or personal yacht.
