This
traditional passage maker has an 8,000 mile range to make those
dreams come true. Hawaii, Tahiti, and even Japan are easily within
reach. Ocean storms are no threat to this sturdy little ship
designed for the serious world cruiser. Hi Dad's robust
construction and watertight bulkheads meet the requirements of the
American Bureau of Shipping for unlimited offshore service.
The
lower deck forward has a work bench/stowage area which includes a
small safe cast into solid concrete to contain the ship's papers
and important documents. A washer and dryer are built in under the
counter to starboard. The midship stateroom is large and contains
a hanging locker, night table, and queen size bed. The owner's
cabin is full width with large hanging locker, queen or king size
bed, and bookcase headboard. The w.c. has a separate stall shower
and can be accessed directly from the owner's cabin or from the
hallway. A linen locker is tucked under the semi-circular
stairway. Up the steps to the wheelhouse is the main helm station,
chart table, electronic navigation center, electrical panels, and
a settee which makes into a double berth for night passages
offshore. The main cabin is offset to maximize interior space.
Leaving the wheelhouse through the side doors to port and aft will
take you down steps to the main deck, to starboard will take you
up steps to the boat deck and flying bridge. Either will give you
access to the fore deck. The main cabin is very spacious and open
with a large galley containing full size fridge, full size
freezer, and plenty of stowage space. The ship's head for daily
use is immediately available. A standard dinette provides comfort
and safety while eating at sea. The lounge area is laid out for
entertaining quests in port and comfort at sea. The settees can
also be made into berths if a sleeping spot is required aft where
the motion is less. Directly aft of the dinette is the
entertainment centre and library. There is a large sliding door to
the aft deck and large windows for looking out. A helm position is
available outside on the aft side of the house. The ladder will
take you up to the boat deck, or as previously explained you can
go up through the wheelhouse doors to starboard and up the steps.
The boat deck has room for an 18 foot dinghy, plenty of lounging
space and a barbecue built into the stack to port. Up a few steps
takes you to the flying bridge which has full controls, seats for
three, and a bench seat for company.
The
engine room is aft of the accommodation to limit the noise
intrusion. A single Gardner diesel gives 10 knots long range
cruise speed. Generator and water maker, as well as shore power
system for European or N. American voltage is provided. The hull
is ballasted with concrete and has twin keels for roll dampening.
