SUSAN is a steel sloop suitable for live-aboard and offshore cruising. She is built in excess of scantlings recommended for offshore racing yachts by the American Bureau of Shipping and can be home built or custom ordered. Each vessel can be tailored to the Owner's specifications based on the standard hull. Variations to keel shape, deck plan, rig, and interior accommodation are all possible under the Architect's supervision.

The hull has a short chine amidship that vanishes out to round sections both fore and aft, not too unlike the IOR boats but without the bumps and hollows that can cause handling problems. There are watertight bulkheads both bow and stern to control flooding and give positive buoyancy making the boat unsinkable for the ultimate in safety. Many other features, as well as the interior layout, show that SUSAN is a no-nonsense cruiser. The lazarette is large with plenty of room for shelves and stowage. There are two private cabins aft, each with their own door, hanging locker, portlight and opening port. One cabin also has a chart table. Both cabins are more spacious than the drawings can show. The galley is large and U-shaped with an electric fridge, diesel or propane stove with oven, hot and cold running water and single or double sinks, plus good cupboard space. The w.c. has a shower large enough for two, and a sink as well as the head. There is a drop leaf table forward with a U-shaped settee and bench seat which may be used as sea berths on ocean passages. There is a large forward cabin with a spacious double berth and plenty of lockers. The sail storage locker is forward for stowage of sail covers, drifters or storm sails. A large transparent opening hatch is over the settee for ventilation and emergency escape, with a ventilation hatch over the stove and over the w.c. The companionway hatch is well sheltered, recessed into the house and above a bridge deck.

All lines lead to the cockpit for ease of handling. The side decks are wide for easy passage forward with the shrouds set inboard for close sheeting. The cockpit is spacious and comfortable and has wedge shaped coamings for comfortable seating on long tacks. Wheel or tiller steering is available. The large balance spade rudder is robustly built and provides superb control over the boat. The long fin keel allows sparkling performance while still making the boat track well. Performance under sail is very respectable and will eat up the ocean miles.
